Now that make more sense!Originally there was a fort built about ten miles north of Abilene on a branch of the Brazos river around 1850 called Post on the clear fork of the Brazos until one night a nervous sentry shot at what he thought was a ghost of an American Indian. After that the fort was referred to as Fort Phantom Hill. The nearby lake got it's name from the fort. There is still a few chimneys standing from the fort.
