Hello everybody! I an new to this and have the fever bad! I got 6 chicks about 3 weeks ago and thought would be nice to have a few eggs.
Wow how that has changed! LOL
I had this old shed maybe old hen house on the property that needed to be dozed but then came the chickens. We used a winch to pull to two halves back together to make it safe to enter then added new front door, windows and wire.
Moved the young duck in with the new chicks under their light.
I just finished the run yesterday and turned everybody loose in the run yesterday. I put them all back in the hen house last night and turned them loose again today and they are loving it!
I found this group and was inspired by Produck in Bay City Michigan.

Yes he does, He actually has 4 chicks that are his or he thinks they are his because he was raised in the house in a cage next to them. It is very funny because when he is in the coop they are in the coop when he goes out they go out. They are usually always together.

You are so lucky--that will clean up/paint up really well. Love the good windows and your "chicken 'round pen' " for the run.

You probably don't have to do much insulation for this building--I DON'T have insulation in my (horse) barn, but I keep up to 500 bales of hay and straw in the loft, so the heat gets trapped. Even with the windows OPEN in the winter, my animals have water when it's starting to freeze outside. In fact, you might want to build 1/2 of a loft for bedding storage with an attached or separate ladder to store and retrieve. Just a thought!

thanks. Yes I have had different ideas. I will more than likely have it insulated by fall. I did run electricity to it so I intend to have heat lamps out there. I have got to get a new roof on by fall if you look closely it is in bad shape. I have a lot of plans and I am open to suggestions.

Thanks
