The Olive-Egger thread!

This is one of my Olive Eggers. I think it is so perdy!

This is the mother, Miss Olive, who lays the darkest Olive egg I have ever seen. Father is a Lavender Ameraucana.

Thanks for showing such lovely birds. I really enjoyed seeing them and it is such a pleasure to read a thread like this and not have people nit picking details and SOP sort of things. It gets tiring to hear at times. It is just nice to see your birds and how much you love them for their beauty and their wonderful eggs.

Couldn't agree more!! One of my favorite Olive Eggers doesn't even lay an olive egg, but a medium brown egg. She is beautiful and a great broody hen. In fact she's been broody twice now successfully raising chicks and she's only 10 months old. She's a keeper!

Here's Maisie

Looks like two pullets to me, what are there ages?

They are both 11 weeks old. I did not realize how red the comb is on the first one till I posted the pic.

Awww, I love the pic of Maisie with her babies

Keep and eye on the first one with the redder comb. Check the back and see if you see any sickle feathers coming in, alot of times they will be a different color and very shiney.

Thanks for the comment on Maisie, she's such a doll.

Ooo! I love Masie's coloring! My Olive Egger - Sammy - just went broody for the first time and hatched 5 out of 6 eggs I set under her. She's been a great mama. I had to take two away, though, as one had curly toes and when I put little 'shoes' on it to straighten them she kept trying to pull them off. In the process she was dragging and slinging the baby around like a rag doll. So now it's in a brooder with one of it's hatch mates, and she is taking excellent care of the other three:
