So you may think…
Mr. Mini Limpy, last year's dragon baby is my smallest drake and he is able to run the larger ducks to exhaustion before using them as pool-noodles. My heaviest drake, Mr. Boots is frequently outran by the much lighter ducks. Also Mr. Mini Limpy is able to follow the hens to the second floor with ease…
I guess I was thinking of my little Call Drakes. Sure they mount my females they can reach but the feathers are not all missing off of their necks and the bigger hens can throw them off. Mine are all in pens and don't have the advantage of being able to run far away from the drakes so I am glad that they are all small.

It is doing fine but the next one seems to be struggling to hatch. I ended up putting a safety hole in it but it took so long as the egg is very hard. I had it out for a while trying to do that so I don't know if it will make it or not. It was supposed to hatch out tomorrow but I don't know with the egg being so strong if it can make it or not. I may end up having to help it out. I have done that before but I am not looking forward to it. I will wait until after tomorrow before I intervene. How are your eggs doing????
I ended up doing a full assist to this egg. So much went wrong. I hit veins a couple of times and when I was finally able to get it loose out of the egg on day 29 it still had a bit of its egg sac attached to it. I let it rest in the incubator and it absorbed it just fine. Time will tell if it makes it or not but it has ran around all day separated from the duckling born 9 days ago but where they can see each other. It was really struggling in the egg is why I decided to help it out and I honestly don't think it would have even had a chance if I had not.

First non-peeping sound today... I think one of the girls is experimentally trying to develop her voice, that's quite early, they are exactly 3 weeks old now.
