The Sullivan Six

It was chilly but beautiful outside today, so I tried to distract myself from stressing over Limu's eggs and the fact there was no movement we could see by letting the rest of the girls into the garden.

Worms!

We enjoyed about an hour of outside time before our super secret 5th cat (local stray/abandoned cat that spends a lot of time on our property) started stalking them from the other side of the fence. I was ready for dinner by then anyway, so I headed the girls back into their run.

Great photos of your pretty girls "spring cleaning" the garden! I am always struck by how lovely Artemis is -- her head feathers, her coloring. She definitely is a beauty queen.

Worms are a favorite tasty treat here, too. Bronwyn, my Speckled Sussex, has trained me to lift up my round concrete stepping stones so she can snag nightcrawlers that are underneath. Bronwyn will walk along the path with me, hinting at every stone, that I should let her peek beneath it.

Any chicks yet?

Artemis! :love. So pretty! 🤩

We have two babies! And the third egg was definitely not good! It got cracked and stuck to Limu's belly :sick Limu also messed in the nest, so we just picked up her and the chicks and replaced the nest pad. We'll probably wait until Saturday to open up the pen and allow her to introduce them to the flock just in case it doesn't go smoothly.
