Things you wish you could say

Sometimes, "difficult conversations" are necessary. Most of the time, if you're polite and explain your reasons, people listen.

Playing devil's advocate here. Sometimes, letting the child eat in the pew, is the only way that the parent can even make it to church. They have to bring their child with them and to keep the child quiet, they feed them a little something, this is also so that they can pay attention to the sermon. Now, that does not give the parent an excuse to let their child run around, make a mess, or make noise. And water should be the only thing they are allowed to drink. But remember, the children are the future of the church, if they don't feel welcome, they won't go to church when they are adults
Good points, both of you. Not a problem any more, thanks!

Speaking of wild children, last Sunday I saw a kid nearly stick his finger in an electrical outlet at church🫠 I was watching him from my seat and you could just SEE the moment the kid saw the outlet and the brain started working, and then, in slow motion, like gravity pulling him that he was helpless to stop, he reached toward the outlet, grubby little finger extended, and JUST as his digit made contact with the cover his mom glanced down and saw him and swooped in to save him from electrocution!

Ah, thanks, I may just put outlets that turn on for a split second on the pews instead of going after the children.

I've seen children try to stick fingers in an electrical outlet, but I've never seen one actually succeed. The holes in the outlet are smaller than the fingers. (This might be different for other children or other styles of outlets.)

And I know a child that pulled a cord partway out, then stuck their fingers on the exposed prongs. Result: sore fingers for a little while, no permanent damage. So even touching an object that is connected to the outlet, is not a guarantee of big problems.

I'm actually rather impressed by whoever designed the outlets and cords in the USA, that they work as well as they do, while mostly keeping people from getting shocked.

My twin brother and I came darn close to getting an excellent lesson in how electricity works when we were toddlers. We each had a fistful of metal hair pins, bobby pins they were called. We were each industriously stuffing pins into one side of a socket, as many as we could fit, like pin cushions. Parents were right there, just busy watching tv or something, not us. I guess they finally alerted to the fact that we were being awfully quiet, which was never a good thing, and the next thing I knew, one parent had grabbed each of us and pulled us away. I suppose if we'd made contact with each other we might have tripped a breaker or something.

Would have been quite a shocking experience.

Wish I could say: I have found a source of Penedesenca hatching eggs, purebred. The black ones with the white earlobes, that originally hail from Spain and lay such a gorgeous, dark brown egg! I would buy a whole bunch of them to try and keep them from becoming extinct, if I could find some ... such a beautiful and noble bird! :love

Reddit, you don't need to push the same repost of a plane crashing fifty thousand times on me.
I'm on the kayak reddits, got to see the same video of a kid being gargled by a whale a few hundred times.
Not as horrific as a crash but still not something you need to be reminded of 40 times an hour.
