Hi, I was wondering if I could use Timothy hay in my nesting boxes if not that's ok I will go buy something else I just have Timothy hay at my house and figured I could just go ahead and use that instead of having to go buy something else right now. Thanks for all the help!

Hi and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us. Personally, I use dry soil and dried grass clippings - no need to buy anything, just use whats at hand (and free

). So if you have some hay kicking around - no reason not to use it (according to a quick search that i just did).

Best wishes

Timothy hay is fine. I use shavings in the coop in the summer..straw in the winter. I like the idea of using what ever you have on hand. Makes sense..wish I lived on a farm!

Welcome to BYC! It's great to have you.

Eh, it could work, but I've had birds attempt to eat hay in the past, resulting in an impacted crop. Straw is better as it doesn't look so appetizing and isn't as easy to eat.
