Tractor Supply Co. Chicken Coop Reviews Thoughts Feedback - Why and Why Not ?

My husband has built all of my coops up until recently. I bought a Snaplock from TSC. So far we love it. Easy to assemble, easy to move, easy to clean.
A friend who was starting a small flock bought one from TSC, it was the best way for her to get started. I checked it out when she was starting to put it together. I advised her to treat the exterior with Thompson’s water sealer and she painted the interior with coop paint. While it’s not anywhere near as sturdy as my coops, it has held up very well for her. She has 5-6 hens using it. This is the one she got I think, I’m going by memory of what it looked like.Coop

These links working for anyone?
Just taking me to a search page on TSC.

The second link worked for me... and wow those dimensions don't make any sense. I'm always baffled by coops that are around 5ft tall... why make it so tall if it is still just a little too short for the average person to walk in?? Also, that coop would be alright for 5-6 chickens to live in, but I still wouldn't do it unless they were going to get substantial free-range time. I usually just ignore the number of chickens they say the coops can house, but I do wonder how they could put 18! on there in good conscience. Also for that less than half that price you could just buy two of the standard coop they carry and put them together. The ones I linked below are more reasonably priced and similar to the ones I've had, which worked fine for me.

As a person who had a tractor supply coop I can give an honest review. The coop I had was this one. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/p...8VuC3mAt8oU0gv1PzCw8OQdNbTvJV3JgaAlwrEALw_wcB
Now the functionality of the whole thing wasn't terrible. The only problem was it was so darn flimsy. Within the first week of having it a predator of some sort had managed to bust through the metal wiring. The coop was not very big at all. I felt really bad keeping more than two in the thing. I recently took it down and spent around 500 dollars to build my own coop. The coop is easily three times as big and I could put whatever I want in it. I would highly suggest building your own coop.

I bought a coop that was on sale when I first got my first batch of chicks. We assembled it in the basement and kept the chicks in there until they were ready to be outside. We made a big coop/run for them and just added the small TSC coop in there with them. They run in there and lay their eggs everyday so I guess it works for me. Wouldn’t recommend it just by itself tho. Said it was meant to hold 6-8 full grown chickens and I don’t see it holding 3.

I've had a few people recently reach out to me asking which coop I suggest they buy from TSC (Tractor Supply Co). I obviously have my own ideas & thoughts, but I worry I might also be biased. While I think some of the chicken coops at TSC are probably total garbage, I'm hoping others might be respectable options.

I thought I'd reach out to the hive... er... flock-mind and get a good discussion going.

Take a look at some of the coops at TSC, copy a handful of links to coops and post them here with your thoughts / comments.

Here's a direct link: https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/catalog/coops?cm_sp=Fly_-_-SubCategory-_-Coops

Some are as low as around $300:

... while others are as high as $1,400:
So, check out their site and post some links and comments. Hopefully we can help save some peeps some headaches and get them (and their flocks) to a happy-place!
I've gone to TSC in the last few days and looked at the coop in the store. In my opinion, it's VERY small, they say 4 to 6 chickens but I think 3 max. There is no room basically from roosting pole to the 3 small nesting boxes on back. Although I like the outside access boxes, they are all and there is no way to block them off until you need them. In my opinion this coop , cheaply made and too expensive. It is cute to look at, would be good if you had older hens perhaps as a replacement coop.

This is the one I saw in store. It is very cute, and in a warm climate it would be probably not bad, but to me it just seemed very small and not very strong . But I am sure that there are many whou like it and I am sure they are happy with them.

Now I'm confused :gig .......second one I quoted did work, sorry.

I think it's on TSC's end, because the link did work earlier yesterday. The OverEZ coop listing said they were sold out so I'm wondering if they removed the listing for the time being rather than have people stare at it and be unable to order it?
