You've gotten lots of good advice! The only thing I would add is to be sure all the chicks get a good multivitamin as soon as the Corid course is finished. Corid works by depriving the coccidia of vitamin B, which your chicks also need. Dosing them afterwards can keep them from crashing.

As mentioned, direct oral dose of Liquid Corid is 0.10ml per pound of weight given orally twice a day for 3 days. This is in addition to the chicks drinking the Mixed Corid Water as the only source of drinking water.

I'd try to encourage her to eat her normal feed. Try it wet/mushy or dry. Applesauce may cause loose stools as it can act like a laxative, it won't hurt her or the others, just be aware if she has looser than normal poop it may be due to this. :)

Do you have photos of the poop?

Re-check the crop first thing in the morning, if it's still squishy and big, then I'd treat as Sour Crop.
Okay! So I only drenched them all Thursday when I first found the blood. I will do it again today. And that is the only water source they have is the corid water.

She just ate some yogurt and egg yolk with the food crumbles on top this morning! She ate all on her own I was so proud!

Her crop is still pretty squishy but I don’t smell anything in her breath. I’ve dealt with sour crop only once before in a hen and she unfortunately didn’t make it.

How can I treat her for sour crop as well? Is this a common side effect of the coccidiosis?

I was really encouraged that she ate this morning and drank on her own. Still incredibly weak but it’s a far cry from how she was yesterday! 😊

@blue_hydrangea_homestead How is your little one this morning?
So far so good I think! She was the first one up this morning and went straight to the feeder and water and drank a good bit. As you can see in the thread, she might have sour crop 😣 but otherwise she seems okay!

My other chick, Roz, is now moving slow as well and has watery and small poos 😞 but thankfully she’s been on the corid treatment as well so hopefully she will be fine too!

The third chick, Poppy, is normal as always lol she is OFF the walls 😂

Thats wonderful news! :wootThe sour crop may take care of itself as the Coccidia are killed off. You might offer up some probiotics or a bit of plain yogurt each day to help with the good bacteria imbalance. Hopefully Roz catches up soon too.

UPDATE: So actually when I just came back out here, Fran’s crop is not enlarged but it is just squishy in general. No sour smell or anything coming from her beak. Now, it was enlarged yesterday and squishy but since I couldn’t monitor her all day long she might have just been eating and it might have been the applesauce I gave her. What do you guys think? Should I treat for sour crop anyway or just wait?

And should I give them all another Corid drench?

It’s definitely affecting two now…

Keep doing all you are doing, it definitely takes a few days for the Corid to do its job, I am hopeful they will all pull through just fine. :fl
