"Treats" that your birds don't like

Cucumbers and yellow squash are the two things my flocks through the years don't seem to care much for. They have all loved potato peelings. My current hens are counting down the days to Thanksgiving and the left over turkey carcasses.

Glad to see my ladies aren't the only ones who aren't impressed by dried mealworms. They do absolutely crazy for these though.

And just about any bug they can catch, besides ants. We give them table scraps sometimes, but not often cuz they always seem to leave more than they eat.

You guys have given me some great ideas, I'll have to try the blueberries for sure!

I have this in their run right now but they only pick at it occasionally.

Their favorites still seem to be bread, tomatoes, grapes, American cheese, and oats. They will eat scrambled eggs but they don't inhale them.

I bought one of these toys for them and filled it with oats but they can't seem to figure it out.

Mine go absolutely bonkers for this finch seed mix we’ve got in the bird feeder. Caught on that the chooks would sit under the feeder and wait for a bigger bird to knock some seed down. Now I keep some in a jar just for them.
Also half a watermelon for the hot days, keeps them hydrated as well.
And they do not leave our brazillian spinach alone! The poor plant never has any leaves unless we fence it off for a while to recover

Part of my chickens’ jobs are to eat kitchen scraps. I keep it proportional so as to not be unhealthy for them, but I believe strongly in the sustainability of chickens as healthy kitchen scrap eaters. Therefore, the only things they don’t eat are sugary foods, chicken, and eggs (my husband doesn’t like for them to eat eggs). I go really easy on the junk foods.

Favorites: chili, beef stew, any fruit

Dislikes: onion, hard scraps not that aren’t finely chopped (I dice apples, celery, etc for them - they’re spoiled).

Hi everyone,

What are some easy "all birds like this" type treats? And conversely, what are some that they are unlikely to eat? My uncle used to have chickens and said his birds loved any salmon scraps.
My birds like dried crickets, meal worms, cherry tomatoes ( I cut them in half), corn ( My silly birds will not touch corn on the cob, so I have to cut it off before they will eat it), BOSS. In winter, I keep cooked rice in the fridge. I scoop out some and heat it in the microwave with a little milk - just warm, not hot - add mealworms or dried crickets and BOSS to it to help warm them before bedtime (yucky yes, but they love it)
