Hey everyone! I’m new to hatching chickens this year. I have my own flock now, and have been raising chicks since 21’. I’ve decided to try to hatch a few of my own to add some egg color variety.
I’m wondering if any of you have successfully hatched out of a Trio Cottage incubator? (Listen, I know it’s cheap, money is tight, figured I’d give it a go🤣). Any success? Tricks? Advise? They’re set to go in Friday morning, but I am a little intimidated by the incubator and I keep putting off set up.
Anything helps!! Thanks!!!

I personally have never tried out this brand of incubator, but I've bought ones on the "lower end," I guess you could say. Just make sure the eggs are being turned every day, the humidity and temp are correct, make sure lockdown is done properly, and make sure you have your brooder set up before they hatch. :)
If you need any help with specific questions, I can help with any of those!

I’m still looking up information on best temperature and humidity. I’ve read a bunch of things that all conflict with different information. Same with canceling, my incubator says day 6, I’ve heard day 7, and my incubation app says day 10. Then my incubator came with a spray bottle to spray them, but I’ve never read anything about that either.

The temp should be right around 99.5 degrees F, and humidity should be around 50% until lockdown. In lockdown, the humidity levels should be raised closer to 60%. Eggs start developing noticeably around day 4, but I've had ones that show signs of developing sooner. Misting/cooling should be started 7 days after the eggs were set in the incubator. You can spray them to increase the humidity levels, but I recommend putting a cup of water in or if the incubator has a water tray, using that instead. Misting can spread bacteria to other eggs, so try not doing that.

Thanks my incubator ended up with very unstable humidity and temperatures so I ended up getting a nurturer right 360 but now I can’t seem to get the humidity up above 40 even with putting the maximum amount of water in. Must just be my luck.

Maybe try running the incubator to get the humidity levels up before putting eggs in? Sometimes that might help. Incubators can be so frusturating sometimes.

They were already transferred since my other incubator would hold temp or humidity, I didn’t have a choice 😭 I might put a humidifier in the room that eggs are in, maybe that will help!
