I was thinking about getting a couple turkeys from tractor supply. They come in on may 3 I was wondering if anyone has ever bought from them and what kind they sell? I called and they didn't know what kind were coming in. And do you raise them just like chicks? I know they need different food and you brood them but what do they live in when older?? Thanks!!

Well mine is in Ohio and they told me they'd be getting them may 3rd and only 50 of them. And I think the sign said they're going to be $6. I think.

Oh and I asked if there was a min that you had to buy and they told me no. So I'd like to get 2.

Didn't know TSC sold 'em... none around here do. I got four from Atwood's though. A bronze and 3 whites. I feed mine the green bag of purina chicken feed. Same stuff I feed the ducks, geese, and old chicks...

Most TSC only does the turkeys as something you can order and have delivered during chick days. They offer Royal Palm, Bourbon red, and BBW and BBB i believe. Turkey poults need 28% feed to start. As far as where they live, i keep my 6 birds in a 50x50 pen during breeding season so i dont have to egg hunt, and they free range the rest of the year. A ten by twenty pen would be fine for 2 birds if you dont want to free range. Make sure you have a top on the pen unless you get broad breasted birds.

Our Tractor Supply has them at least once a week..... asking $8.99/poult though! I got one for free that I had seen getting attacked by some others (its rear was all bloody/swollen), they pulled it out and sprayed it with BluKote and seperated it from the others. I asked if they would give a discount on it if I took the "damaged one" (couldn't hurt to ask-right?) and the guy said I could just have it! I felt bad or it being lonely and had to go get another from the other local farm store.... Family Farm & Home that is in town. They had them for $5.99, so we got a buddy for the first one. They are doing great- the first one is completely healed up within one week just the slightest bit of swelling yet! Both are Broad-breasted Whites, but both stores also had in some bronze too.

Thank u. So the broad breasted can't fly? Could they go in with my chickens? I've heard that's ok. Can u eat turkey eggs like chicken eggs? Or are they just for breeding? Thanks so much

They might have been 8.99 at our tsc. I looked but couldn't remember. Good for you for helping the sick little poult out. Glad he's doing better. I called and they said they should get them in today. So I might get them today. We'll see. Thanks for your story and info!!
