Two injured chickens

I’m so happy to hear she is feeling a bit better! I don’t have any experience, I’m sorry. I will say, I did have a pullet that got attacked by a dog and had a nasty gash that was fairly well hidden by her wing. But when she turned just right it showed and she got pecked every time. I’d be a bit weary of the idea myself. Would a saddle hide everything? You could always try one on her and see if it hides the wound well enough. How does the wound look?

How about making a T shirt that covers the wound? I have also used polar fleece no sew hen saddles that are held on by the wings. Use caution since the others can sometimes shock the other chickens right at first, but they get used to it. Here are ones like I have made out of polar fleece:

So - she is starting to grown new feathers and she is feeling pretty spunky! After putting antibiotic on her - and checking her over - she jumped past me and got out today. She was so happy scratching and pecking everywhere. She ran up the hill to the coop with her sisters. Took a bit - but I got her back in her cage - but it made me wonder about putting a chicken saddle on her to cover her backside - so she could go back with the others. Does anyone have any experience with those as it relates to injury protection? Thoughts on the idea?

Well you are there, and we are not, so you are the best judge. I really hope that she heals. Wounds where the skin is wide and open take weeks to granulate in. Let us know how she

I am happy to say that she is doing great! I ordered a chicken saddle and it covered her wound completely. She has been back with her sisters for a couple of weeks and they have not bothered her one bit. She is growing new feathers really fast. She is going to be fine. Thank you all for your input and help!
