type of rooster

The SLW roosters have the standing comb and he doesn't have red on his breast. I don't know what your trying to say because he is a SLW.

He's a bit dirty and dusty. I think that is where the red coloring comes from.

SLW have rose combs.

When you look at the pics close up, his breast is spangled, not laced. Some of the spangles look reddish, but of course maybe that's just dustiness.

But he is most definitely not a SLW no way no how.

this is a silver laced wyandotte cock. the bird in question is not a silver lace. he does look to have one copy of the lacing gene given him that incomplete lacing but all in all he is some sort of mix

Agreed. SLW have rose combs, lacing and yellow legs. The male in question has a single comb, spangling and white legs.

The hens look to be some sort of Wyandotte cross. The pea combed one has some interesting double lacing going on too.

If you don't believe he is a SLW then why don't you go to the roosters farm and get a blood test. SLW Roosters have the single comb. Hens do not but roosters do. I have a SLW rooster of my own and he looks exactly like this rooster does. Her rooster has the lacing of the SLW. I know my chickens.

SLWs are not *supposed* to have a single comb. ALL Wyandottes are *supposed* to have a rose comb BUT, hatchery versions do typically have single combs.

Having said that, I agree that his is not a SLW, at least not a pure one. Even the worst SLW I've seen have lacing to some degree and that is not what he's got on his breast.

Actually he is not an SLW or a least not a purebred. I breed Silver Laced Wyandottes and Blue laced red Wyandottes and never had a purebred roo with a standing comb. Of course mine are show quality. Bad breeding could do things (by this I mean inbreeding and breeding non show quality birds).
So yours is probably badly bred (which I highly doubt), a mix breed, or not an SLW.
It also doesnt have full lacing. It looks more like a spangled then laced.
