Unique Posts Make People Feel At Home!

Then why create this thread? The opening post was all about doing better not a "thank you all for taking several hours a week out of your busy schedules to greet our new members and let them know what a warm, friendly community they are now a part of."
Sometimes I will try to help a new member who has asked a specific question or questions.
Sometimes I try to say something humorous to get a laugh out of them and make sure they all know we can be silly.
SOMETIMES a new member doesn't really give you anything to work with and it's like pulling teeth to get them to open up.
Everyone is different here.
All the greeters are here to welcome, encourage and help our new member utilize this wonderful resource to it's fullest potential.

P.S. - Very nice reply @drumstick diva.
Sometimes new members give no information, and then you can't really say anything, and that makes sense to me.

I was trying to avoid posting this coming sentance, but I guess I'll just say it. Sometimes I see a new member who posts a really nice and detailed post but some of the replies are just a repeated phrase. But most the time they get really nice and friendly replies.

I'm sorry if it came out wrong, but I really do appreciate all our greeters and how much time they dedicate to welcoming others. Thank you greeters!

Please, I don't won't to start a fight here and I'm not trying to offend anybody. I'm sorry if I did.

Don’t think I ever got welcomed. But.... I sure as heck have been helped!

I see all these guys donating their time and giving out the ’same info’ to everyone. Circle back, and then call the cavalry to help with their issues. To do anything that marginalizes their dedication to us new guys is, frankly...... asinine.

I cannot imagine needing to be such a high touch individual that ‘Hey, welcome to our group. Set down and enjoy’ isn’t enough?

Thank you greeters, staff, and general bad ass chicken gurus for your help. This place is awesome because of you.

As, @DobieLover mentioned, when we can, we try to respond with questions about their flock, or try to help them out when needed, etc. I will say though, especially the last few months, there have been a ton of new members joining each day, it is hard to come up with a very "detailed" post for every single person, if one were to do that, it would likely take an extremely long time to do that with every new thread.

Nothing against the poster, just many of us don't have the time in our day to do such a thing.

I do understand what you're getting at, and it is nice to have people that care, and think about our new members, so I applaud you for that.

I've been thinking. I was wrong to post this thread. Once I tried to welcome every member, but I stopped after a couple of months once the new member posts started to pick up in the spring. I forgot how hard it was, but @rjohns39 reminded me (thank you).

Our greeters do great. It is hard to think up something unique when you are greeting so many members in one day. I am a irregular greeter and only make a dent in all the threads.

Yes, I was wrong and foolish.. I regret what I said. And I am apologizing. Thanks to all of you who knocked some sense into me, especially rjohns39!
