Hello. In September my flock suffered a traumatizing event, when an assassin crept into out coop and murdered our bantam rooster. His lady love has been coming to the back door of our house every night since to sleep in our kitchen. We have tried reintroducing her to the coop, but she refuses to stay outside. We have made accommodations for her in the house. Recently we notice she is "losing feathers." She has two large bald spots on either side of her belly. She has plenty of chicken feed, water, human food. Any suggestions?

Could she be broody?
Have you checked for mites or lice?
What protein percentage is in their food?

She did try laying on eggs about 2 weeks ago, but after a few days she stopped of her own accord. I do have concerns about her diet. While she eats a lot and is fat and happy, her stool is always liquid. I do not see mites and her chicken feed is 17% (I believe.) My husband suggested we stop allowing her in the house.
