UPS worker stole our package at distribution center

I had something similar happen with get this....40 books! They weren't slim volumes either. They scanned into the post office and be the time they got to the distribution center all four boxes were empty, no damage to them what so ever. Just cut tape and empty. These weren't flimsily secured either! And the post office said I was SOL because there wasn't any insurance on them. Grrr! I feel your pain, I really do!

I worked at UPS loading, and every worker is patted down coming in and going out, plus you have a camera on you much of the time. There are miles of conveyor systems under every roof and many packages get mashed open, with contents getting trashed or tossed loose into the system. There's no way to know which goods belong in which box, and sometimes small goods are destroyed by equipment. I can't begin to tell you how complex and massive the system is, but suffice it to say that semis drive around inside the buildings and you never notice.

It's likely that UPS will find out if an employee stole the items. If they were just mashed loose, it's simply chalked up as a loss and is likely tossed, probably damaged beyond recognition.

There are bad eggs in the system, just like everything else, but I've never seen a company with more of a tight ship than UPS. It's really amazing.

I'd go through my credit card and have them manage it all. Easy peasy.
