Hello, I noticed one of my hens having blood on her eggs so I lifted up her feathers around her vent and lifted the upper part of her vent and noticed on the lower inside was red and bloody with possible dark color like a dirt or busted vessel underneath the skin. This was last night... Tonight I noticed not positive progress but instead what I thought was dark is now this green color. It is not a prolapsed vent because nothing is bulging out. I got some q tips and dipped them in saline wound cleaner and cleaned it a little. Does any one know what it could be? I will try to get pictures tomorrow.

Did the green wash away or look like it was part of the flesh? It could be poo stuck there on a scab or something.

Worst case could be gangrene, but it's hard to say with your description. (Not trying to say it is. But it's something you could look at pictures of to see if it looks similar)

I would make sure she is in a clean environment for at least a few days, and you might want to cut away some of the feathers around her vent to prevent any droppings from getting stuck there. Other than that normal cleaning is good too and hopefully the problem will cease.
