Want to have a perfect fried egg???

My daughter's 10 yr. old friend just taught us this:

!. Take a piece of bread and use a cup to punch out a circle.
2. fry the bread in the leftover bacon grease or not
3. crack the egg in the hole of the bread and fry as usual.........
Perfect!!!!!!!!!!

It has many names, but I grew up calling it "Toad In A Hole". I still make the for DH, but he gets WW bread now!

They are a great way to get kids to eat!

By the way, you can use all kinds and shapes of cookies cutters to really personalize them. Like hearts on Valentine's Day, Santa for Christmas, a cross or rabbit for Easter, etc.

my kids learned to love it from a British friend of ours, he called it (and they of course love calling it) "Spit in the eye".

i will dip the bread into a beaten egg after the hole has been cut and make french toast with the fried egg in the center. take the round center part and put it in the toaster oven and make toast so nothing goes to waste.. it got crumbled when i tried the toaster
