I'm going to pick up one of those black ceramic heaters at the Farm Store in Chehalis today, along with a bag of pine shavings. I wasn't planning to use pine shavings, but changing out and washing crappy towels is a nasty job!We have a Sweeter Heater. They work perfectly. We keep one end very low, just about their height, and the other end about 5 or 6" above them, so they can choose where they want to be. Because we put ours out when they were 3 days old this time, we also added a black light, like they use in snake aquariums. It's ceramic, so no danger of breakage.
This is a Sweeter Heater:

This is the ceramic heat lamp. I just put it in one of the tin fixtures they have at all the farm stores.

I can use the pine shavings in the rabbit cage when I transfer the chicks outside to the big-girls' coop.
And I need the heating pad I now have in the brooder for my newly planted tomato seeds, to keep them warm until they start germinating.
