I got all five herb varieties dried and in containers.

Dried a batch of catnip. Just two plants so far. Took four changes of water to get all the dust off first. Salad spinner works great for that.

Packed pretty well but not crushed down a lot. The cats prefer larger leaf pieces.

I have basil in the garden that I want to preserve but I think it doesn't hold its flavor when dried. Any suggestions on how I can keep some of it over the winter without it losing its oomph?

I cut mine all year I use fresh all year.
Honestly I do not recall the year I started going out there to them.
They may have been there a few years.
The catnip looks fun I like to use it on ours too.
Sage is my least favorite spice a I guess.

O in them candled 3 times no go.

Some herbs just don't preserve well. If you have a sunny window you can grow some inside

You can freeze dry basil and they say it will retain most of its flavor. We just bought a freeze dryer and can give it a try for you. But I need to fill all 4 trays of herbs to make it work properly I think.
