Dried a batch of catnip. Just two plants so far. Took four changes of water to get all the dust off first. Salad spinner works great for that.

Packed pretty well but not crushed down a lot. The cats prefer larger leaf pieces.

I have basil in the garden that I want to preserve but I think it doesn't hold its flavor when dried. Any suggestions on how I can keep some of it over the winter without it losing its oomph?

Some herbs just don't preserve well. If you have a sunny window you can grow some inside
