Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Been talking to the roof contractor & we are trying to figure out (due to rain everyday til spring?) how to build the roof ...without taking the tarp off the house.
LOL
So talked about building it ON the tarp...tarp will stay in place & trusses will go up, roof completed and then later we can go up in what will be the loft floor, and cut the tarp off with sheetrock knife...sounds likr the only plan we can do~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Bank should have our loan ready to sign anyday unless there is some issue.....I am waiting to hear........

I was going to report that, last weekend, I was helping my friend with her goats, we gave vaccines, bo se, dewormed ect.
Well she invited some gals we used to rodeo with about 30 yrs ago...... did I just say 30? OMG!! I'm old!!

It was so good to see them and catch up. Well, in the process I found out that one of them is a 4H extension agent for Yakima.
So, I started asking questions, apparently, there are no "poultry" 4h leaders!!! There's a master gardener that fills in once in a while! So, I asked what the process was to become a leader, and she told me, so I'm contemplating becoming a leader.
Yea, I'm a crip, and yea I only have my own ducks and poultry breeds for experience, but, I thought, it would be a way for me to learn along with the kids?? Any ideas?? Some of you know me pretty well, do you think it's doable?? I might have to wait till next year after this hip deal is done, but, it doesn't sound like it's going any where and I would love to get more kids AND parents involved!! And it could be a way, to get more Scovie exhibitors!!
Questions, comments, concerns?? LOL!

Freeware Top 30

by SAMER KURDI on JULY 17, 2010. Updated SEPTEMBER 9, 2012 · 155 COMMENTS

The following is a list of 30 freeware programs that I cannot live without. I wanted this to be the one page a reader can turn to get all the essential free programs they need to install on a new computer. This list doesn’t cover the best free program in every conceivable category, but for those categories that are represented the programs showcased here in most cases, I would argue, are best-in-class.

Also, one of our DD's had her first MMA tournament this past Saturday. She got 2nd place out of three, the girl that got 1st place was at least 4in taller than our DD and had a huge reach advantage on her. But even with that she only lost by 1 point. I told her that just because she got a medal and a certificate (all the kids got one of these cheesy things) that it does not mean that she does not still need to work on her technique. I do not like that every one gets a trophy or medal these days when it comes to kids sports. I feel that it makes the kids think that they do not need to work any harder to get first place or to win the game because "every one is a winner". I don't mean this in a harsh way, I think my DD and most of the kids there did great and tried their hardest, but there are winners and losers for a reason and I praise my DD and most of the others for getting up there and doing their best but the goal is to have fun, learn, and work as hard as you can to win or get to 1st place. But this is all just my opinion!

That's so neat that your daughter does MMA. We are an MMA family too. Both our son (11) and our daughter (8) myself and my DH have all been participating members of MMA gyms. We love it!! My DH has fought twice in the cage, and has done a jiu jitsu tournament as well. We are huge fans!
I agree w/you about the trophy thing. I think teaching good sportsmanship is really important, teaching kids how to win graciously and lose graciously is more important to me then making sure everyone gets a trophy. I remember when I was growing up, if you didn't win, you didn't get the trophy or the blue ribbon, did it suck not to get one of those? sure, but that just meant next time I would try harder, practice more or move on to something else. Our kids a huge into sports. We've played on both rec. leagues and competitive leagues. The rec. leagues, everyone gets equal playing time regardless of skill level (it's part of the rules) but competitive leagues play on a different level, if your child isn't good at that sport, they probably shouldn't play competitively. I think making sure everyone gets a trophy sets our kids up for not knowing how to handle loss or rejection as an adult. If the kid who comes in last place, gets the same reward as the kid who came in first, whats going to happen when the same kid (who lost) applies for a job as an adult but doesn't get it b/c he/she isn't qualified? They aren't going to know how to handle not getting the trophy (job) that they didn't earn. I think this has a big play in why so many of our young adults today feel this sense of entitlement. Just b/c I showed up, I should get an "A", um no, you have to work hard to get the "A".
All kids should be positively encouraged, the story about the parents yelling rude things to Itsrens (I think) kids is horrible and those parents should have been told to can it our leave! We have a little girl on my daughters soccer team named Abby. Abby is so sweet, they have played soccer together for 2 1/2 yrs now, fall and spring seasons and Abby has never made a goal. The whole team (parents included) holds their breath every time she gets the ball near the goal, we all want her to get that stinkin goal!! Abby gets just as much playing time each game as my daughter does who is the top scorer on the team. In the rec. sports or the sport league some of you mentioned (Upward sports?) that's how it should be, but competitive league sports are a different story.

The above is my opinion, not the right way or the wrong way, just my thoughts on it all.

X's 2!

STAND DOWN ! ! !! Yes Bella has been found. I had just opened the car door to get in when CGG called me. HAPPY TIMES!!!

ETA we are going to take a little road trip just for a fun visit with CGG and Bella. Since we had already rearranged the day.

Good to hear!! That's nerve wrecking for sure!!

I didn't raise my kids the way my parents raised me, they have no preconceived ideas of race or disabilities. For that I'm glad.

Thank you for serving our country!

I think kids today have fewer preconceived ideas about race and cultural differences. I know mine do. My Heinz 57 kids, strongly of Scandinavian descent, have more friends of ethnic culture than they do of white culture. My youngest son is quite jealous of his friends, and has informed me on many occasions that he was born the wrong color. Our kid's school is about 48% ethnic and the kids come from all walks of life. It is common to see young girls coming to school wearing long flowing gowns, and full headdresses. My kids don't think anything of it. Everyone fits right in. I think it's pretty cool that our kids are growing up accepting the melting pot of America as completely normal and acceptable.

They're mutt chickens. We don't know what they are - other than 1/2 Salmon Fav. What's BLRW?

Someday I'll remember all these acronyms - when I get my remembering spot on my brain working again.

I woke up to a brooder full of some serious pecking order rivalry. All 4 were going at it hard. They almost landed their tiny hineys back into the 10-gallon tank brooder where they wouldn't be able to fly at each other and knock each other around. I informed them that they are young ladies, and they better start acting like it!
