Okay here goes. My 6 or 7 year old show girl silkie rooster has been to the vet 3 times in the last 2 months for canker. His hens canker has resolved, and they are currently getting ACS (acidified copper sulfate) in Thier drinking water. And I'm worried about him, he's not loosing weight anymore, and seems to be healing but it's been a real struggle. There are no other vets on my island that take chickens.

All water dishes are cleaned daily, with F10 or vinegar. They are washed in the dish washer once a week with Cascade, which has bleach.

The vet prescribed metronidazole and panacure, for a secondary parasite, the first time. The second time another round of metro. The third time a round of metro and Nystatin, for yeast. I'm looking for a second opinion. I gave up taking him as it's obvious the vet isn't going to prescribe something different.

He was getting Oregano oil in his food, but he wasn't eating enough. I've so started him on mixture of moistened food, coconut oil and millet. Because millet is the only thing he wants to eat. I've been checking his mouth daily cleaning out the canker sores as needed. I found one that was a bloody sore, which seems to have healed.

He's currently on Meloxicam because he's obviously in pain. And a 4 in 1 containing doxycycline, ronidoazole, enrofloxacin and diclazuril. In addition to the ACS Because I'm simply at a loss.

The cheese like growths are becoming fewer, as soon as I got the ACS I started swabbing his mouth with that. Which is good because I was cleaning new ones out everyday. His crop is slow, hence the coconut oil in his food. I'm also offering payaya enzymes with fiber to aid digestion.

Is there anything else I can do. He's not eating or drinking from the community bowls. And he only has one hen, she is fully recovered and her water bowl has ACS to prevent her from getting it again. So I'm not separating them.

Update, the ACS solution seems to be working. He's hit the minimum run for it and I'm giving his body a break, he's been through so much in the last month. I got some colloidal silver that I will spritz in his mouth twice a day for a couple of days. Then I will restart the ACS, he still has a small lesion. But he's getting thin and needs to eat. Also his crop was slowing down so I've been giving him moist kibble with probiotics. And a papaya enzyme fiber solution to aid digestion.

Sorry about your rooster. Canker is very hard to cure. I hope they get better, but sometimes it i necessary to cull chickens with canker to prevent it’s spread to the whole flock.
