Congrats on the eggs!!2 eggs today! Cleo's first and Chestnut's second! And both of them lay blue eggs!
Only 3 of my girls do the egg song at all and they all do it before and during laying, but not afterAll 4 of them lay blue/green eggs.
I got rid of the Barred Rocks. I'm going on a trip and the way the timing was going to work, I would end up leaving them (with a chicken sitter) after a very short integration period and that felt like a recipe for disaster.
I told myself I would wait a year but there is a very, very good chance that will change once I get back. We shall see.
But 4 laying birds are lots of fun. Cleo sings the loudest egg song of the group and she frequently sings just before she lays instead of after but I'm sure with age she'll figure it out.
I'm really hoping to have a dozen eggs for both my mother-in-law and sister-in-law at Easter. I should.
Congratulations on getting eggs now!Where has the time gone?! I have officially been able to give away eggs to friends and family and man, that just feels so good! Right now their favorite place to lay is in the coop but I'm sure they'll figure it out soon.
We've had multiple days where every girl laid so that was pretty cool.
I'm thinking of adding in a couple chickens later this summer, take us up to 6 total, and then sit there for a few years.
That's what I did!Congratulations on getting eggs now!It can help to leave fake eggs in the nest boxes to entice them to lay there instead of other areas of the coop or run.
I actually witnessed the egg song working as intended the other day!Only 3 of my girls do the egg song at all and they all do it before and during laying, but not after![]()
