We hatched 3 chicks from this pairing & I'm hoping someone who knows more about genetics than ido has a guess on sexing.

Chicks are 10 days old. #1 & #2 are black with brown/rust on wings & #3 is black with white barring. What little info I've found so far seems to indicate the barring could be a roo. Pic #4 is the parents. Any guesses are appreciated!

I don't think this mix is auto sexing in any way.
Yeah i know welsummers are auto sexing but i wasn't sure when bred with marans if any of that comes through.

Main reason I'm asking is the 2 are the same and one is barred and typically that could mean something 😆 The barred one also has tail feathers coming in already and the other 2 don't.

Tail feathers don't mean anything unless you know how the parents feathered in.

Neither of the adult birds pictured have barring, where did it come from? Barring is dominant, it can't be carried. How long has the hen been with the rooster, and was she with another rooster before?
She was previously with a Barred polkie roo but i thought we had spaced it out enough, im glad you mentioned that though bc i completely forgot that. 🤔 the last time she was in a pen wiyh him would have been February 8th, and I set eggs on March 5th.
