What About Hilltop Farms?

Worst hatchery EVER. Do not buy from! I have been raising chicks for years, and gave them a try (i do like supporting local businesses and they are only 120 miles away from me)…. Well, they are 6x more expensive then ANYWHERE else and the birds are NOT healthy. From this order 3 out of 25 birds survived. (Normal mortality is .5-1%…. Please do NOT support these criminals. I am not the only one who had had problems with them. Do more researching and you will see LOTS of independent poor reviews (yelp, google, etc…)
Oh my gosh! Do you know what happened to all the birds you bought?

I got 4 babies less than 2 weeks ago from Hilltop and already lost one. The remaining 3 seem less healthy and robust than the ones I got last year from Dare2Dream Farms. I’m so worried about this batch… did you happen to have a necropsy* done on any of them?

*Edited because I wrote autopsy derp 😝

I ordered from Hilltop Farms in December. I just got my eggs yesterday. 12 eggs were left out. Patrick answered my email promptly and seemed surprised that the second box didn’t arrive with the first box. He also charged me $75 for postage! At that point i went to the post with the first box tracking number. The postal clerk spent some time backtracking my order. First off the postage was only $10.95. Second off she said there was not another box shipped to me from Hilltop. I did not know she could track like that! I emailed patrick that i expected him to mail me the remaining 12 eggs i’d ordered and make sure they did not break like the first box. I also told him that he way overcharged me on the shipping costs and either he reimbursed me the difference or he let me pick out enough eggs or chicks to cover the extra unnecessary charge. I have not heard back yet. But having worked with BBB, I do know how to make him a little less likely to basically steal money from clients in the future. He is pleasant to talk to if he answers. His website is beautiful. I expected better service from Hilltop. I hope he cleans up his business practice. Right now i do not recommend Hilltop.
This has been the worst experience ever! This really taught me a lesson in that I will never order something like this again without reading reviews. I ordered in February and since it was May and I had still not received anything. I disputed the charge. I had been leaving voice mails and sending emails and crickets… Finally when I disputed the charge. They finally sent something. It took them forever to send anything and when they did. They did not send what I ordered. He cramped 13 baby chicks in a tiny tiny box. When they arrived one was dead and they all died in a matter of a couple of days.

I ordered hens not baby chicks. He assured me in the beginning that they would be hens ready to lay within a month or so. If I wanted baby chicks I would of driven 10 minutes up the road. He sent baby chicks in the smallest box to provide a tracking # to the credit card company so they would release the money.

Such a sad sad way of scraping a living doing this to people.

Hello!! I’ve ordered Hilltop farm and it was horrible experience, i never had bad experience in 7 years until now. People shouldn’t support company that not care or listen to clients. Too many chicks death. I only have one survivor out of five. Two already dead before arrives then other two dead in next 1-2 days. Communicate is really bad too.

They also deleted 1 star review to try keep star 5 for future new client. I was shock once see my one star deleted. Then other clients’ one star deleted too. I was read their review too, so many chicks death.

All first pictures is all one stars. In last picture, it’s all gone and only fives star remain.

They actually deleted reviews in their own website. I was shook. Never again with that company. Even my review deleted.

Don't trust Hilltop Farms. I had chicks shipped to me and they arrived on time after a two day journey. The chicks did not have enough hydration to last the scheduled travel. Some chicks were dead on arrival and many died hours after arrival. All the surviving chicks were weak and in poor condition from being so dehydrated. They were in a box that was so small they couldn't stand. I don't know if the chicks were sick before they were packaged but the chicks have been sick and almost all of them died over the coming weeks. I asked for a partial refund from the company and they won't give me one. They want me to get a refund from the postal service. This is a farm issue and it is very unethical for this farm to scam the postal service and it's customers this way. Please don't buy from Hilltop Farms.
