Hello,

I went to check on my three chickens this evening and noticed these very tiny greyish bugs all over my chicken coop. Looks like they have long skinny bodies with antennas. Does anyone have an idea what they are and how to get rid of them? I haven't had a chance to check the chickens for them, I will do that tomorrow when I have more light, but just noticed them all over the wood chicken coop. The weather has been cray here in California, 103 one day and then rainy today. I wasn't sure if the bugs had something to do with the weather or if they were mites,lice or fleas!?!? I tried looking up pictures but it was hard for me to tell. TIA

Hi new2chicks3,

Here is a very good dust to use against all crawling critters, it is a food grade compound and non toxic to both your chicks and you, however in concentrated amounts it can be a respiratory irritant;

It about impossible to ID what those bugs are, and if they are harmful to your birds, from those pics.
Need better pics.

FYI...that Redlake earth product is probably mostly bentonite clay and very little DE...read labels carefully.

Pure food grade DE can help as preventative, only works where it stays dry and best not to let it become airborne.
