I bought her as an olive/easter egger and was curious what cross she is? She wasn’t in the best shape when I got her about a month ago but is looking a lot better except her comb is pale and floppy. Is that normal? She’s a year old and has not laid yet. I did f know if there was something I could do or if that’s just her?

Thank you. Do you think her comb looks healthy or should it be more red? She came from a chicken farm and was overcrowded. Her neck and back was bald when I got her. Maybe she just needs some time to adjust

Her comb doesn’t look the right color for being a laying hen, by which I mean that if she were actively laying it should be redder. It’s possible she was molting when you got her, which would explain the pale comb, lack of feathers and lack of eggs. It takes a lot of energy and nutrients to grow feathers. I started feeding a higher protein feed because of things like this. You can feed all-flock/flock raiser and provide oyster shell free choice in a separate container or try something like Feather Fixer. What are you feeding now?
