What Breed/Variation is This Chick From Hatchery Order?

I just received an order from Mt. Healthy for 7 chicks. Like usual they included one extra. All chicks arrived safe and sound, and are very healthy and lively.

I believe I have pinpointed the extra chick. In this picture there is an Australorp at the bottom, and a Speckled Sussex on the right. The top middle is the chick I can't identify.

Mt. Healthy tries to give an extra chick that is related to what you have in the rest of the order, which is:

2 Black Australorp (it's definitely not this!)
2 Speckled Sussex (identified the two I ordered, but doesn't look like this one)
2 Cream Legbar (identified the two I ordered, but doesn't look like this one)
1 Golden Cuckoo Marans (which is one of the three darker ones, so not this one)

Anyone have any ideas of what this chick breed could be?

Wow, I don't know but they sure are cute!

Baby chick breeds are very hard to discern, so if nobody knows right off the bat, I'd wait a couple weeks when it has some good wing feathers coming in and repost it.

Could you possibly get a photo looking straight on at its face? It could be an easter egger because those tend to have some funky patterns. But like the user above me said, it’s super difficult to identify when they are so teeny!

Mt. Healthy doesn't carry Easter eggers, so this chick can't be one of those. They do have olive eggers but their pictures of the chicks don't look anything like this little chick.

Here are a few close up pictures of the head:

They do, they just call them "Americanas". That's the same thing as Easter eggers, just a marketing term. The breed "Ameraucana" is a real breed and not a hybrid like EEs/Americanas are. The spelling is the main giveaway. I'm not sure what your chick is, but I'd have to guess maybe the cuckoo marans. They almost always give extras only of breeds you got.

Ah, I didn't catch that. I did a search on the site for "Easter Eggers" and even though it has that name in the description, it didn't show up in the search. I'm guessing the search doesn't include the description.

I love marans, so I definitely won't be opposed to that! I guess we will have to wait and see how it grows. I don't see any muffs and beards yet. Maran chicks aren't typically this color.

It's still a mystery!

I'm going to guess Welsummer, or egger/cross.

Your pictures shows the chick has chipmunk stripes, and a sizeable white/yellow spot on the head. So I'm thinking it might be one of the auto-sex breeds they sell

Bielefelder
Cream legbar
Welbar
Welsummer

I wish it was easier to find picture examples online. The face markings don't really go along with any of the those 4 breeds, but their picture example of a welsummer chick does kind of have face markings.

Several breeds do have those types of chick face markings, but they DON'T come in that color or have the bar gene.

An egger that has the bar gene and those markings would make the most sense, honestly.

I don't believe welsummers are autosexing, though you can tell earlier than most with them.
I did some research and this chick doesn't match any of those as it has green/gray legs.
Please keep us updated @JAMarlow!

Welsummers are -supposed- to be autosexing. But I have heard that there are often issues where autosexing breeds aren't as clear as they're supposed to be.

I did mix up that they aren't barred, though. My bad on that.
I don't think you can tell with them right after hatching (true autosexing) but can tell pretty quickly based off of the feathers coming in (males are red/black and females are gold/brown patterned)
