What chicken layer this egg?

I got a couple of silkie eggs to hatch from a friend and she sent along a couple brown eggs I am particularly curious about this one egg. Do any of y’all have some ideas? It is the egg in the middle.He is in the incubator and is supposed to hatch anytime now!

Well, what chickens does your friend have in their flock?

Speckled eggs like that *can* be coming from Welsummer. But there are other possibilities as well.

When you get to lockdown (or if you're already there).. try and raise the air cell a little higher than how it's pointed downward right now on the white egg next to the one in question, for optimum results.

Ok thanks for the info! I googled Welsummer eggs and it looks like it probably is one. The air sell is actually a lot higher than the pencil mark now! And I am in lockdown.

I would say either Welsummer or maybe Cuckoo Maran.
