What did you do in the garden today?

I’m liking the fall garden planting. The Brussel sprout plants are doing well and the carrots, chard, radishes, and greens are all doing well. Something has been enjoying the kale shoots but I’m really happy to see so many carrots growing. Thank you @fuzzi, I believe you posted a picture of your collard plants. I’ve never grown them before and have only seen the mature leaves in the grocery store.
Lots of carrots here and more in with the Brussel sprouts. Temperature was in the low 40’s this morning. I ran the pellet stove for about an hour to take the chill out. My okra plants are still hanging on with a few more pods developing.

I wish the Emergence C team would come up with a platable guiafenesin. (Mucinex)

Those allergy times when I do need some, omg, what a nasty wicked taste & smell. It's unbelievable how I can try to drop it in the back of the throat along with a mouthful of cinnamon oatmeal & I Can Still Taste That Crap! Smells nasty, too, stinks soon as ya open the bottle. 🤢

It does work, but darn that stuff needs to be coated with something to make in Not so pukable & Not get stuck in the throat. 🤮
See if you can get some guaifenesin in a pill form, not Mucinex. I had chronic URI growing up and learned to just chug Robitussin despite the taste. I'd still use it but they make it with corn and high fructose corn syrups, so I had to stop.

Naughty raccoons. What were they doing on your roof? Last night my camera caught one on the grape arbor, again. There are no more grapes, since it ate most of the a few weeks ago. I think it also came up on my back deck and rummaged through the eggshell bucket. They were strewn across the porch.
They go up the downspouts and try to get in the soffit. One got in one year and I fixed the rotting board she ripped up, after I convinced her to leave...but she or a kid tried the next year again. Doesn't pay to be tender hearted with those varmints.

Riddle me this Batman... We bought a new dishwasher last year because the one that came with our house was really old and not getting things clean anymore, even with pre-washing. So I bought a new GE Profile stainless steel dishwasher. Supposed to be energy efficient, yadda yadda. With the new dishwasher, it takes nearly FOUR HOURS to wash and dry a single load. The old dishwasher, when it was still working properly, only took a single HOUR to wash and dry a load.

How the heck can "technology" go from one hour to FOUR hours to do the same activity and legitimately be called "energy efficient"? That is not efficient. Energy or otherwise. :old
Mine is the same. It does a hot prewash and soak, then a rinse, then a wash, then a rinse. 3.5 hours or 4.5 for heavy duty. Most of it's time is soaking and power-washing with jet spray. It uses less water and a LITTLE less power than the old stuff. But not if I have to prewash it half the time. Ticks me off.

I gave up with water crest, too many bugs. I grew them in my aqua culture bed, and I couldn't spray anything on them. It got infested with aphids or something similar. I do better with ung choy (Chinese water spinach). I can grow them naturally without chemicals in my area.
Lebanese Cress seems to be everything-proof! I've had it growing by the front steps for years now .. it gets flooded when we get rain and still it chuggs along. Probably a lot spicier in taste to the water cress... peppery.

The house I had before I bought this place: a raccoon tried to crawl into my chimney around 4 am. I was awakened by the sound of a loud noise of something hitting my brand new roof. I went outside to see what happened and saw a brick from my chimney laying on the ground and a really big and very pregnant raccoon climbing down my downspout. Apparently raccoons like warm chimneys to deliver their babies. The first thing I scheduled to have done when I bought this house was to have my chimney brought up to code and install a chimney cover to keep the raccoons out.

That would drive me bonkers! I dread the thought of having to buy any new appliance. They seem to be all about wasting time more than anything else.

Fresh off the evening news. Lol!
