What did you do in the garden today?

I looked up and realized that a giant swarm of bees were swirling and twirling thirty feet up. The swarm was moving into a new home and directly came zooming in and made their home in some old dead-out bee boxes that were left over from last season. Tomorrow, I will go and straighten them out into a single deep hive body and put a feeder of syrup on it, as several days of rain are forecast. Talk about having a springtime experience.

I love free bees!
How many hives do you have? We have a bee thread, so stop there and say hello too.

Reduction in a commitment to quality and customer service have fallen drastically over the years. Although I must say that I recently was pleasantly surprised by two companies that actually came through, without a fight, to correct a problem for me. One was Gurney’s regarding a failed plant and the other was RunChicken about a glitch in their chicken door.
:he:lau Oh geesh, Reread my post and realized it may have been a good idea to actually read what I wrote BEFORE posting.

:lau Yeah, that looks like the backend of my old 1998 Ford Explorer coming back from a trip to town. I almost always check out my favorite places that have free pallets to pick up. I really like that cargo strap idea to hold down the pallets. I'll have to check my Explorer to see if it has some place to attach a strap. That looks much safer than me just stacking everything up in the back.

The best thing about making your own pallet wood raised beds is that you can make them any height you want.

I met an older couple last year that was making pallet wood raised beds out of complete pallets at 42 inches tall by just screwing 4 pallets together. The wife recently had hip surgery and was unable to bend over at all. Using the full pallet height was their solution to continue to enjoy gardening given her challenges.

I make my 4X4 foot pallet wood raised beds 16 inches high, which works best for me. Here is a picture of my pallet wood raised bed v2.0 which I really like...

I call it my v2.0 because there are a number of improvements that I learned how to build into my original pallet wood raised beds to make them stronger and last longer. If you are interested in how (and why) I build my pallet wood raised beds with this new design, you can find detailed discussions and photos in the thread Show Me Your Pallet Projects!.

Of course, there are many other projects and photos of what members have done with pallets on that thread. I would really appreciate it if you could stop by there on that thread and upload a few pictures of your pallet wood raised bed project and tell us about it. Best wishes.

Thanks for the shoutout, @Sally PB. Appreciate your continued support. Talk to you later.
I plan exactly that, to screw 4 ( or 6) pallets together, I got 2 hips replaced and am not good at bending anymore, that is why I started this project
The strap was the idea of my friend, he is a truck driver and knows I have to secure the cargo 😅

So funny how the temps just switch , it is said to be up to 74 by 4pm,,
today at Grandmas,
👩‍🌾plow the chicken🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓 run before it turns into hardpack, the chickens love plow day

thats good for today

My pepper plants seem to like being in the bigger pots, in spite of me ripping off all the roots that were spiraling around the smaller pots. They're turning darker green and the new shoots at the leaf junctions are growing fast.

I'm still feeling wiped out by the flu, but symptoms are gradually subsiding. I'm just going to take it easy today. Again.

Rain here. Yesterday I picked up sticks that the wind keeps blowing out of the trees. Filled a stock tank in preparation for mosquito season. I will add mosquito fish once there are wigglers. Jaw swelling is going down and feeling better. Tooth extraction past Thursday.
I have sticks everywhere 😭
Glad the swelling is going down .
