What did you do in the garden today?

My opinion, you wanted jelly, so make it into jelly. I found this Ball pectin calculator that might help.

I used an old box of Sure-Gel. I mean, it wasn't SUPER old... Maybe 2 yrs max? I'm wondering if the fact it was old contributed to the fail? I was uber careful with the measurements to make sure I didn't have anything over or under the recommendation.

Pssst.... it's raining here... I don't want to say it too loudly and scare it off! Man, do we need it!
It rained here too
1.25" :celebrate
Of course I was I'm the house and a turkey mom decided she wanted to sleep in the trees and dumped her month old kids. :barnie
Another hen was on top of her coop with the poult. The 4 chicks were back in their coop.
I go the poult down and with it's siblings. I couldn't reach the mom with the 10 ft pole.

Put up beans, huckleberries and blueberries this morning. Spent most of the day trying to dig out the wisteria that has spread all over the east side of the yard instead of up the trees. It even invaded my forsythia bush, and my old lady eyes didn't even see it! I thought my bush was looking bigger and healthier than ever til I got up close. It durn near had the forsythia choked out. It's not looking so big and healthy now, lol.
Had a huge thunderstorm, took out the power for a few hours. That's cuddle time for the dog, she's terrified of thunder. Managed to finish putting up the cowboy candy right before bedtime, with the dog planted right between my ankles the whole time. Maybe she thought the storm was coming back? Or maybe she's taking a liking to cooking? Awkward to say the least, she's not little, about 45#.

I see the posts about the rain. I'm so jealous. It was 104 here today. We haven't seen rain in ages. Lol

So I'm serious about that gopher portal. I killed one yesterday in that spot. Not even 16 hours later there was new fill dirt in the holes. I am just beside myself with this craziness. My poor clover patch. Another trap filled with dirt, two are still set. I hate gophers. I got the callsign "Gopher Slayer" for our short wave radio years ago. So I've just stuck with it.

Leaving tomorrow to go camping and spend time on the lake. Back on Sunday. Luckily we're going to have a bit of a cooling trend; down into the low 80s while I'm away. So I'm not too worried about things dying while I'm away.

Hand pollinated the gourds, because I haven’t seen any bees… and tied and pruned the tomatoes. I also picked some herbs for tea.
I have two sick chickens at the moment, one is sick for almost a week already, and the other caught it yesterday. Some type of respiratory illness and I can’t get medication for them. Another one has healed already, so hopefully they’ll all be fine.
