What did you do in the garden today?

We have 2 regular riding mowers (Cub Cadet and a Husqevarna)... I couldn't even tell you how to turn them on. That's DH job... 😂 However, I do use the brush mower on the Kubota to mow around the barn and pasture. I hate, hate, HATE walking through grass or weeds above my ankles. Not to mention you can't see where the fire ants are when the grass is that high.

Interesting! I did not know about the sulfur. What do you use as a sulfur amendment?

I can't complain about my garlic. I grow the variety Music, and the cloves are plenty big, though there are only 4-6 in a bulb, usually.

The other variety I grew this year is Metechi. I picked that one for a stronger flavored garlic. I haven't tried it yet.
I used wettable sulfur; the Hi-Yield from "Snake Eyes" this year. I also used the "Bulb Plus" feritilizer from MIgardener at the same time, this has sulfur in it as well. Mixed the wettable into the overall bed along with blood meal, iron, and trace minerals. Put the bulb plus in the planting holes with the garlic. Then I mulched the whole bed with 3 inches deep of chicken bedding (pine shavings).

I never weighed enough to do the riding yard mower.
I use the push style mower.
They need to make a riding mower that has a saddle... Dang things are so hard to keep weight on the seat and when you're petite you can't friggin reach the pedals and keep your duff down while going over the bumps. I hate our riding mower... we have a 2023 craftsman ride on that is so overpowered for the size, it just bucks you off; but I'm thinking about ballasting the rear tires; that may help... or make it do wheelies, not sure which. The darn ground squirrel holes.... gopher holes.... It's just a bumpy mess.

These days I just get up on the 6800 Kubota and scrape everything... or just run it over with the giant ballasted rear tires. Never have to worry about snakes up there either. Just mice when you start the thing up.

DH has never used our big mowers or the tractor or hay making equipment nor driven my pickup truck w or w/o the trailer, that's my job.

Have to weigh enough to trigger and override the safety.
Yup. I have thought about bypassing that switch... But it is actually needed. I have leaped from the mower to safety more than once. But it is frustrating to bounce off of the seat and have it die, which has forced me to eject from the mower due to losing power mid hill climb.

I really want a skid steer with a disk mulcher....

Mine does try to use ours to mow the pasture from time to time, but he always sets the blade way too low. I try to keep it around 7-8 inches. That's enough to cut down the weeds but still gives the grass enough energy to not totally die out in the high heat and baking sun. He always cuts it down below 6 inches and I feel like that makes it die off faster in brutal summer months (July & August).
