What did you do in the garden today?

I’ve been feeding this spider some of the isopods and earwigs. It’s so cool to watch

I picked a cup of peas this morning then finally got my acorn squash planted in the small pea bed. Had my eye appointment earlier and good news, I think, my cataract is large enough to remove. Can’t wait to be able to see out of both eyes. We are headed for another heat wave starting tomorrow so outdoor work will be challenging. I’m hoping to plant the chard tomorrow morning.

So many apricots.

Yesterday we went to one of the local "u-pick" farms with some friends. Ate a fried chicken sandwich from the place and threw up 5 times over the night. Hooray....

About to pull out the apricots and test them. I'm so tired. There's still a bunch of fruit to process.

I bounced on the trampoline again yesterday... Today, I feel it. Goodness do I feel it. Though my core may be sore from puking with gusto as well... Taking it easy today. I've had to take naps. Not like me to nap.

Corn is tasseling and silks are emerging! Going to have plenty of popcorn.

It finally happened. I caught a skunk in the trap. It must have freaked out pretty bad and died, because I check the trap daily and it was dead when I went out to check yesterday. Waiting to put it in the bin on trash night. Luckily I don't mind the smell of skunk.

I have tiny green flower buds on my zucchinis. Won't be long until I'm inundated with squash and making relish.

I need to trim off some more lower leaves and start training them up the poles. First year of growing vertical zucchinis for me.

I plan to leave as many leaves on as possible though. More leaves means more nutrients being made for the plant from sunshine.
My zucchini is already pewtering out. Not sure what the deal is; but I never got to stake it up. I'm going to sow new seeds and have a late harvest. Pull the ones that are dying out. Maybe they got tired of competing with the tomatillos I refuse to pull out.

Saw a bug on my squash and thought it was squash bug, panicked and squished it. Did some Googling afterwards and realized I got my pests switched around and it was actually a potato beetle.
Squash those :duc potato beetles! I did find some of their larvae today. They pop when you squish them. Heh heh heh heh.

Widows have more of a classic web shape and the coloring wasn’t right for a widow. I can’t say I would be complaining if it was one, I have a weird love for black widows
I tend to leave the spiders be unless they end up somewhere problematic. Had widows around years ago and pretty much left them go. Haven’t seen one in years although I’m sure they’re still here and with grandkids visiting now I can’t allow them to go on being ignored. Of course I will say that an evening walk to the coop to check on the chickens that results in walking into a web and having spiders crawling on your head (I’m a shaved head) is NOT an event to be sought out to experience.:barnie
