What did you do in the garden today?

Rainy today, off and on thunderstorms all day. My tomatoes are all splitting. At least the spider mites are mostly gone. My strange yellowish dappled beans are about to blossom. Plants are a little stunted though for being in a huge pot with awesome dirt. I'm going to conclude they're missing some nutrient not found in potting mix, iron perhaps. Scrounge around and put rusty metal in the dirt... kidding. Add some actual soil next time I think, beans love our soil. So many experiments.

Pulled some weeds, trying to do that daily so that they don't get a chance to really start!
Green beans plants are coming up. I planted pole and bush varieties. We'll see how they do. Lots of green cherry tomatoes and some green plum tomatoes. Cucumbers are starting to grow, finally!! Tied up the branches on some of the tomato plants. Not much else to do really. My peach trees don't seem to have any peaches on them. :idunno Well, there were 2 small ones on 1 tree but they had sticky stuff coming out all over them and they looked bad so I picked them off. I need to find someone that also has peach trees near me and find out when they spray theirs. I think that may be a big part of the problem. :idunno

Good morning gardeners. Surprise, surprise no rain today until late tonight or tomorrow morning. I only found one slug in the garden munching on a marigold like it was the last piece of food on earth. More blooms on the peas, but no sign of peas yet. The little carrots I planted are just visible now. The herb garden beds are improving. The original lavender I planted is starting to show signs of growth. I had to tie back the azalea bush in the front yard so the oil delivery person could find the filler pipe. The adjoining rose bush only bit me once. I don't have any plans for the garden today other than letting the chickens out to play in the grass this afternoon. Hi @karenerwin, I use Fungicide3 by Garden Safe on my fruit trees. It contains neem oil and herbal extractions. It is a fungicide, insecticide and miticide. Good luck with your trees. Have a great day everyone.

I thought they were supposed to hate marigolds!

More rain for us yesterday, which is why I had planned to go into the city, get a haircut, some groceries, and three little sisters for my lonely 4 week old chick.

Just as I opened up the garage door, my gutter guys showed up, unannounced. Dang it. So they started working on the outbuilding, drizzle was fine they said. They took the old gutters off and it really started to rain. Fine, don't listen to me when I tell you before you start that it's going to really rain in half an hour.

So, they finish the shop gutters in the pouring rain. I head out to get the chicks. 30 minutes there, 30 minutes back, 20 minutes at the store.

Get home to find the facia repair guys on the roof, unannounced, in the pouring rain.

Lonely chick will have nothing to do with the fluff balls, so he's been moved to the big coop with everyone else and his mom. Who, quite frankly, is DONE being broody, but doesn't mind at 5 years old, being allowed to sleep in a nest box at night even if it means sharing it with a peeping chick, as long as he's quiet. (Lonely chick even tried snuggling up to daddy at one point if it meant his mean roost hogging aunties would leave him alone. But big roo doesn't know what to do with a chick trying to hide between his legs.) LOL.

The gutter guys are back today. My nerves are about shot with a week of chaos and noise. i'll need to detect for screws again before I mow. What a mess.

three more inches of rain to go before sunday and we dry out for a week. Really hoping to get 1st cutting of hay down and in then.

Garden? Who knows. Everything is slow to go due to all the water and the cooler weather. Again hoping that turns around next week.

I pulled up some spent spinach and the few little weeds I could find (tossed all of that to the chickens). Checked the eggplant plants for those tiny black bugs ( been doing that every day and smashing the ones I find that don't hop/jump away too fast).
Dug out several invasive honeysuckle plants from around a very large oak tree.
Cleaned out the large coop and put down fresh shavings. Butchered 1 more meat chicken ( 3 more to go). Cut the asparagus because something is nibbling on it at night.

Been pulling some of the extra broccoli and cullaflower that I planted giving that to the birds found a new use to oyster have this one spot where you come into the house sits in the shade of tree and deck so put weed block in like 2 or 3 years ago kept thinking gravel then decided on oyster why not right 50 lb bags like 12 buck each
