What did you do in the garden today?

We just hit 102. But it feels like 110.
I feel your pain... I had a CrossFit class this evening in a building that has NO AIR CONDITIONING in this crap.

I watered today. Sprayed spinosad on a lot of things. Harvested more tomatillos. The birds are starting to test the apricots... So I'll need to pick this weekend.

So many butternut squash... I counted 16. Then figured out that the squash vine that's randomly growing in my potted cherry tree is a different variety of butternut squash. I have no idea where the seed came from. I'll get photos once the fruit are a bit bigger.

Super cool clouds today. Humid though. It sprinkled at about 530am, just a few drops on windshield dirt to let you wish. Seriously, maybe 20 droplet outlines on my windshield. Darn.

Photos of things attached!

Any one know that they eat fruit as well??? So now they don't just mess with the leaves but also mess with my fruit? well guess I'm going to nuke them till they glow...View attachment 3872066View attachment 3872067
I would be taking them straight to the processing plant - aka chickens.
I think I’m going to make beetle traps. My bee kit came w one and said you add vegetable oil - will have to see if same for this sucker! Yuck

I managed to order another bag of chicken feed and 2 bales of EZ straw at TSC. The manager I spoke to over the phone on Saturday said that these items are flying out the door as soon as they restock. I’ll be going there after breakfast today. The weeds and bugs are really bad here and the EZ straw should help with that.

Just picked and watered those in pot.
I’ve decided the cow peas will be peas - pull whole vine when they turn!
Wondered if the baby glads would flower! Have my answer ❤️
My hoe was hiding in plain site! 😂
Romas happy!
One big fat snake bean!
Corn filling out

At this point, I'm not breaking any records, just praying the plants survive hail & brutal heat & the pests. Those Japanese Beetles are here now, little jerks! They are everywhere but really like the Magnolia flowers. I pick them off to throw to a chicken but she's more interested in raiding the blueberries just ripe for picking. When I toss the beetle it may hit the ground but most times the buggers fly off just before a chicken's beak reach. What's really annoying, those little pests are often in the act of step 1 to reproduction, while on a beautiful Magnolia flower... what sick little perverts!
My mom was an organic gardener, recruited me to help at an early age. I was given a glass jar with lid, an inch of turpentine or something like that in the bottom, and sent outside to gather pests. I got a penny for each Japanese beetle I captured so I liked seeing them coupled $$. I liked finding tomato hornworms, too as they were worth ten cents, woo!
