What did you do in the garden today?

Another sunny, cold day starting here. I love the dry but we really a bit of rain. I'm digging up another clump of Mexican Tarragon today. I may plant a clump or two out the back near the chook house now that I have more sun there, and for it's amazing colour when in flower. I'm top-dressing the garden beds with all the compost the chooks have made. Happy gardening, everyone!

I spent the whole day outside today roasting.
The pollinator garden was beyond toasted and so I mowed it down and mulched it.
I built a massive irrigator head, which turned out to be broken, so I'll pick up a new one tomorrow.
I also cut all the tomato vines and picked everything orange to red, although I still need to get the cherry tomatoes tonight.
I'll let the rest ripen on the vine and with the vines cut they wont split with rain that's coming.
Oh, and hospice chicken living in the garden passed this morning. But for two weeks - she lived the life of a princess.

I'm sad to hear about your hospice girl

Harvested hot peppers today! Most of them are in the dehydrator now. There are maybe another dozen still on the plants, not ripe yet. Those will either be frozen or used fresh. Seeds are huge and plump which I hope bodes well for their viability.

Speaking of, does anyone know what the pepper on the bottom left could be? It doesn’t look like a cayenne, and the seeds all came from packets this year so if it’s a hybrid it wasn’t on my end.

It almost looks like an Anaheim chilli. I have some and thought that they were supposed to be green but some of them turned red

That big pepper looks nice. Are you going to plant its seeds next year? And were all the peppers on that plant similar?

If no heat might just be an Italian frying pepper. Looks like some we’ve grown, maybe “Jimmy Nardelo” as a variety example. The sweet Italian, or Italian frying peppers are versatile and good tasting.
