What did you do in the garden today?

98 yesterday and bone dry with 54 mph winds
75 today and bone dry and normal (for here) windy
I think I'll do the Fall barn cleaning while DH does the manure, but we'll do that after we go skeet shooting.
I'd love to open the house up, but the air is THICK with harvest chaff, dust, and smoke. I made that mistake last week.

Garden, I need to pull seed heads. Otherwise, I'm still waiting for leaf drop.

I've got 8 pints of beans from picking this week. Still have more to pick...

This is the first time I've planted Kentucky Wonder pole beans. Not sure I'm a fan... Are you supposed to pick them when they are really young? It's likely I picked mine when they were overly mature because I was gone for several weeks. They are very stringy and tough.
The older ones do ok when you can them, which was their intended use.
Otherwise, yes, younger for fresh eating.

It's starting to get chilly here at night. I usually bring my tree inside when it starts dropping below 50 degrees at night. Naturally the tree isn't a fan of being moved or chilly nights. It currently has about a half dozen full sized lemons that are somewhere between green and yellow. I thought maybe removing those might help alleviate some stress on the tree... It still has a ton more lemons growing which are still very immature. It also has active blooms too. I don't expect to need to move it in the next week or two but probably by the end of the month.
I got a big baseball size lemon sitting on my counter. I will try this recipe for dinner.

@ Nym and CatinTheHenHouse, buy a gallon of water. After it's empty use the lid to put 5 circles in the middle of it while it's laying down on your counter. Cut out the circles. Put the lid on and fill it with water, then put your garlic root side down on the holes. Keep the water full. In a few weeks your garlic will have enough roots to go into the ground, and you can also separate the cloves and you don't have to buy as much garlic.

I also bought the pink flowered strawberry plants - they are pretty. More decorative than for production. They will produce a decent berry, but taste is not amazing (IMO). But the plant is nice looking and the pink flowers are nice to see.
I have a greenstalk with alpine strawberries. I am going to seed these in the empty pockets there... I'm not really worried about the taste. While I do eat alpine strawberries here and there, I mostly use them to feed the bunny. I keep my good strawberries (Mara De Bois, Allstar, Honeoye, and Ozark) for people eating... 😊Speaking of, I actually need to dig up a bunch of strawberries and transplant them to a different location... All my varieties have gotten mixed together. 🙄😂

That looks delicious! My family really likes lemon pepper chicken... Mine are also baseball sized. I have somewhere between 6 - 8 which are almost fully yellow. I will probably freeze dry some. Also I drink a LOT of lemonade and lemon water so some will go to that as well.... I'd like to make my own zest too...
