What did you do in the garden today?

I cleared all the weeds out of the patch of black currants I planted last spring. I think there were 16 plants originally, and 9 or 10 survived (barely).

I filled in empty spots with a couple of red raspberry plants.

I also put in a pair of little sage plants that I started from seed last winter. I'll move them somewhere else next spring.

I'm jealous... I've tried to grow sage several times with no luck. It always dies and I'm not sure why. Even established starter plants.

The black rice I sprouted in my plastic noodle bowl was turning off colored, so I decided to plant them in idol fabric pots. This is my first time growing them in fabric pots. Copilot said it can be grown that way. I just need to keep them moist and fed.

I put an orange tray like in the picture on the inside of my fabric pots for a small reservoir.

From what I've learned, sage prefers sandy, rocky soil with some organic matter/compost mixed in. Well draining soil is important because sage hates to have wet feet. Could that have been the problem with your plants?
