What did you do in the garden today?

Caught the little turd burger! One of the rotten eggs exploded at the same time I grabbed her. I put her in the quarantine pen while I went back to check the eggs. Candled them with my headlamp. One was pipped with a huge chunk of shell missing although it hadn't broke through the inner membrane. It was chirping. At least 7 others looked to still be alive. Two were clearly dead and one was half buried in the mud. I wasn't digging it out of the rotten egg slime & mud so I have no clue if it was alive. I brought them all inside and put them in a nest box in a small rabbit cage. Snatched the little turd burger from the quarantine pen (losing a ton of feathers in the process) and put her in with the eggs. Not much room in there so she'll have no choice but to sit on them... We'll see what happens with them over the next few days. Hopefully she is far enough along that she'll finish the job.

Not a moment too soon on finding the missing hen! There's a skunk prowling around my house somewhere. It smells God awful outside. DH went looking it but was unable to find it. I was certain it sprayed in my garage...

I have the broody cage covered with a blanket to help keep her calm since she's a nervous, flighty bird. This morning I peeked under the blanket just a little bit and confirmed that she's sitting on her eggs. I can hear chirping so I think the one egg has probably hatched by now and is under her somewhere. Six eggs to go!

FOUND MY MISSING HEN! That little turd is sitting on a hidden nest outside next to DH's shop. It is a frigging miracle that a critter hasn't gotten her. She is sitting on nearly a dozen eggs. Some of them smelled rotten. I'll have to wait until after dark and catch her with the net.

I put a Tin cat in my cart at Amazon . they had it for 9.99 also. What did you put in it for bait? Don't have problems yet, but its only a matter of time before they try to winter over in the coop.

I have a problem with ants in my yard, so I would probably use PeanutButter and mix in a little borax and baking soda, but I am not sure if the mouse will eat it?

I use peanut butter and they take it every time. I do get tired of buying peanut butter for the mice, but at least they're gone.
