What did you do in the garden today?

Dang! Insurance has gotten expensive! I had to go check what I was paying after seeing those two posts. I'm paying $1000 a year for 2 cars, liability only. Both cars are 2004. Old, old, old, but still running well. I rarely drive or leave my property, but when I do, I stock up big time so I don't have to do it again anytime soon. Seems like it would be cheaper to get rid of my cars and have everything delivered.

How often to you start your vehicles to keep the battery charged?

I have a solar charger plugged in the cigarette lighter of the truck, so In the summer I can go 2 weeks before the battery dies. In the winter a week.
The escape hasn't had a problem until it was 7 years old this spring. Original battery.

My 2004 Jeep Rubicon's fuel pump became faulty at around 60,000 miles. I had a hard to start problem that got worse with time and the engine warning light was on. I took it to the auto shop and that's what their tests pinpointed citing low fuel pressure, so I gave them the go to change it. My jeep ran like new for a few days and wouldn't start on the 3rd day. I had my jeep towed back to the shop and they replaced the defected fuel pump for free.

My air condition gave out way before 60,000 miles. I did not have air condition for more than 10 years. I watched some videos on YouTube and changed the blower resistor, but that only fixed the blower air flow controls. The air condition direction control was still not working. I found that the air tube coming into the interior from under the hood was broken. I think this is a common problem, since the tube is resting on a hot pipe. I used an aquarium air pump tube and reconnected the broken part and then the air condition control worked as should, but the air coming out was warm, so I added refrigerant, and now my air condition is running like new.
That's why our Jeep was nicknamed 99 PROBLEMS. We sold it after basically replacing everything in it at least once.

😂 I just paid 1200 for 6 months...full coverage on 2017 2w drive escape and 2008 Chevy 4x4 1/2 ton pickup. Both without bells and whistles
Has doubled since stolen catalytic conters locally. I have discounts for no claims, good credit, bundled with house.
Oh, don't get me wrong... I pay a hefty penny for my regular vehicles. We have 4 on our insurance -

2021 Acura TLX
2018 RAM 2500 Laramie
2005 Mustang GT
2018 Hyundai Elantra

Add spouse and two 20-something college kids and the bill comes in around $650/month.... That's also with good credit, good records, and homeowners insurance bundle.

I just recently brought that payment down by getting a tip off to check with a local insurance agent. My previous insurance (Geico) jacked our rates up to $1000/month this spring for no reason.

I finally finished the solar heater for the chicken run. I added a solar powered little fan to pull it into the run a little faster. 22 degrees outside and it was putting out 62' air into the run. It's not tropical, but it might help take the edge off when we hit January.
