What did you do in the garden today?

Today I mostly just stared at the seeds I planted a few days ago and fretted that they haven’t come up yet.
Ditto. Thyme is up, and elecampane. No sign of the sage yet. Parsley and rhubarb have secondary leaves and should be repotted. Most of the mint family has such tiny seeds you might easily miss the seedlings. I still can't find my oregano seeds.

You have to broaden your horizons, get some day old chicks so you can divide your "fret" time. :lau
I would if I could! The little floofs are adorable, I love the idea of chicken manure compost instead of buying bagged stuff (I kid you not in a prior year’s bagged dirt I found a glass shard) and I regret my lack of Australorps every time I hear about another egg shortage/price increase. But my HOA doesn’t allow livestock (and unless I’m misremembering there’s a prohibition against birds so no ‘pet’ chickens either).

After being sidelined for 2 days with a sprained ankle, I couldn't stand it anymore! Ankle is not yet 100% but I managed to get it into an oversized boot so I could get some garden work done. I dumped 4" layer of dead leaves over the in-ground garden area and then covered everything with cardboard. Hoping that kills off any potential weeds over the next 6 weeks or so and helps "prep" the area for spring planting. We usually till it every year and I'm hoping to give the area a break this year and not till. The leaf matter should encourage worms and composting underneath which will help nourish my plants whenever I'm ready to start planting.
I always gather and lay leaves on my garden in the fall. Then I lay chicken wire or some type of fence I've most of it the best I can . It is so helpful for the microorganisms in your soil.

We live in the suburbs..we HAD an HOA who did basically nothing except take money from everyone. It was dissolved and I got chickens that spring! Go to a meeting.. ask for it to be dissolved if you feel it doesn't do anything. We do have to follow our city ordinances that says no more than 4 hens but I know quite a few people who have way more than that!

Anyone ever grown lentils?
Yes. Twice. No success.

Second time (last year, was better - they actually flowered). But, we left them in the ground waiting for pods? Drying out? Something….,but we got nothin’

Tips: start on cooler side. They don’t like to dry out too much - but they also don’t like to be too wet. Weeds seemed to proliferate in their bed at an accelerated rate, and they don’t deal with weed competition that well, so keep them weeded.
That's my back yard
Yikes.

We also get pretty saturated here. We’ve made some strides to contain the water spread, which has helped, but still a pain. Hopefully the water goes down quickly.
