What did you do in the garden today?

our TSC sells out within minutes of opening the doors
I stopped at the Wilco store in Kelso on the way down to Battleground Wilco to see what they had. They just got a new shipment of chicks in, and there was a line waiting at 12:30. They weren't letting people start buying until 2:00. I drove down to Battleground, got the last 7 New Hampshire Reds and drove the 65 miles back home.

The breeds at the Keslo store weren't what I was looking for anyway. All "designer" types. I wanted chickens more on the heritage side of things.

I've lost count of the number of tornadoes ripping through Arkansas tonight. At one point, a local weatherman rattled off 8 or 9 counties and said there were active tornadoes on the ground in all of them. That was hours ago. There are at least 3 current ones they are tracking right now.

I think this is going to be a record breaker....

Just remember that it's still moving east!

I just went on the NWS website and manually counted the number of Immediate Tornado Warnings they used in Arkansas TODAY! The count???

125!!! And it's not even over yet...

Remember that doesn't equate to actual confirmed tornadoes because a single rotation or event could spawn multiple warnings as it travels across the state..... BUT STILL!

HOLY SMOKES

as I mentioned before many sellers here have no idea what variety they sell. it happens once I asked what breed the kid they were selling was and the lady (owner) thought for about 2-3 minutes and said: kid :lau she wasn't sure if it was lamb or kid, lol.

so to be on the safe side I need to buy 2 asian pears.

No dandelion blossoms here yet but I plan to enjoy a few messes of dandelion greens when they show up, and dip a bunch of blossoms in thin batter and deep fry them. Deep fried dandelion blossoms are tasty!

I gave half of my second batch of yellow onions I started from seed to my neighbor for her to plant in her garden. I'm going to plant the ones I kept in between the rows of shallots I planted, which are nearly a foot apart. Plenty of room for onions in between them.

I broke down and bought some chicks today, spur of the moment. Had to make a 130 mile round trip, but got 7 (6+1 for free) at $5.99 each. New Hampshire Reds.
Ooh, fried dandelions! I will definitely try that. I do use greens in salads and also make poke salat when the poke weed comes in.
