What did you do in the garden today?

I found a small white eggplant and wanted to try it. I am roasting it at 425 for 15 minutes. The package says it taste like mushrooms, but I doubt it............

We've had 7 inches of rain since Wednesday. Supposed to an ADDITIONAL 8 - 10 INCHES in the next 24 hours. 🙄 The rain has already flash flooded my hoop house. Looks like I lost half my Kale, spinach, Chard, and stevia. Thankfully all of that is easily replaceable...
:barniethat's a lot of rain

I have hoop coops and after the first year I let the deep litter build up a half foot. The corners still flooded if they dig down to ground level.

The only hoop coop I have for poultry is the duck coop. Thankfully it doesn't ever flood. I do have a 6" - 8" buildup of shavings in there still to keep them off bare ground. My other 2 chicken coops & goat house have either concrete floors or raised floors (on top of pallets) so they are always dry.

This is the dirty culprit for why I have flooding in my garden area. Basically the city has a storm drain outlet that directs and dumps storm water (and trash!) from both sides of the road for a quarter mile right onto my property. 🤬 This was in place before I purchased this property so not much I can do about it. However now that we have a new tractor with a 16" backhoe, I want to put in a culvert that will redirect the water and keep it from flooding my garden.

3 tornado warnings right now within 30 minutes of my house.... Including one coming towards my house. 😕

Edited to add: thankfully the one headed towards my house has broken up. Given that it's going to get worse between now and 9 pm, it's going to be a long night.

Sigh... Welcome to Arkansas in spring. 🙄

I put together one of the collapsible rain barrels I bought today. I haven’t installed the gutters on the potting shed yet but I have a screen cover so with all the rain that is coming this next week I’ll put the barrel up tomorrow morning. So much to do. At least I can capture some of the rain water.
