What did you do in the garden today?

I don't think that's accurate. My understanding is that mint is beneficial for chickens.

My chickens eat mint plants. They are ravenous creatures. Any mint that grows where they can eat it, they devour it. I've tried to get it to grow where they free range and they eat it to death, every time. No matter how established.
I weed those Mexican Mint and throw them in my chicken runs yesterday. I am glad to know that they can eat it & it is healthy for them. I have plenty in the garden and now I will let them run wild, another source of food for chickens.

Yesterday...was a lot of cleaning up my dog house and only a bit of weeding, adjusting some plants in my chicken runs.

Today we will be working on my mom's garden, trimming many of her trees. Mom has so many trees that need trimming every few months as they grow fast and tall.

Whatever energy I have left after all that trimming, I will take a big nap if my body will allow it.

Thanks! Sounds promising!

Only issue now is were to find a tree 😊👍
If you can buy mango fruit where you live, you can try sprouting the seeds. I have one that I planted from seed, and it just flowered this year. Seedlings take about 5 years to reach the fruiting stage and fruited grafted tree clones take about two years.

Commercial nurseries like Zill plant seeds to find new varieties through random pollination. The owner smells the leaf of the seedling to decide which ones he will grow to taste the fruit.

Buying a grafted tree is expensive, it may be better to gain some experience before taking that step. I killed a lot of $200 trees before I figured it out. It might be better to start from seed and treat it like a house plant at the beginning. Keep in mind almost every house where I live has a mango tree, so killing them in my area means I didn't have my head on right. I didn't know they didn't like sitting in cow manure.

This is a link that says they ship Zill trees worldwide.

I'd love to grow mangos here but alas it's not to be. Though if I could grow them in a pot and over winter them inside I would do that. I wonder if one can keep them pruned to say 4 or 5' tall in a pot?
You could bring it inside in winter, @R2elk has a mango tree that live in a green house in winter.

Will mango fruit in a pot? I am thinking this because mango is a big tree.

I saw mango tree in a pot with fruits in the nursery, might be they are special or put something in it to get it fruits? I don't know.

I hope you get your mango tree. ❤️

Oh....thank you for sharing that. Google says bad for chickens mint.

I had removed one part of my garden of Mexican mint, they are climbing up the fence everywhere in my garden.

I have spearmint and peppermint. never heard of mexican mint. there is some variety of "wild" mint in the field. chickens, geese and ducks eat it as well.

This is a neglected Florigon mango tree that fruits in this large pot. I plan on moving it away from my fish tank, so I can take better care of it.

I almost killed it one year after pouring charcoal ashes on it. I think the Kingsford charcoal ashes aren't the same as real wood ash. I am not sure, but I never used it again after that incident.

I keep this tree pruned and compact. Its less than 5 ft tall. I think its 7 years old.

The Florigon mango variety is classified as a medium size tree.
