What did you do in the garden today?

We got at least an inch of rain yesterday. I’m looking forward to getting the rest of the peas in the ground and whatever garden bed prepping done that I can. The other day while finishing up planting peas the black flies started biting me around the eyes. They got me around my left eye on the brow and eyelid. Today I’ll spray repellent on my gardening hat before I venture out.

I didn't know peach trees have to be pruned 🤔
Yep - I am very late but winter and Spring have been miserable here. I have trimmed this late before with no issues.

They are pruned differ from pear apple and plum trees. Each has a specific way of pruning.

Oh yes, I can relate... We have these heavy (ridiculously heavy) iron bar fence panels that are used around the barn and coops. The bars are open at the top and wasps like to crawl inside and make nests inside the panel. I stuff old feed bags in them to block the holes. It looks like really ghetto but it works. I could probably go get some expanding spray foam and it would look better. 😂

don't waste your money. foam will attract them. they easily chop it and make their nests.

Every day I find tons of things to do and what needs done.

My boys 16,19, and 21 have been wanting to talk about their hobbies, their dreams, things they found out, things going on at their jobs. It takes up a big chunk of my day, but I realize that the stuff to do will always be there. You never know how long you have with someone, and you don't want to look back and regress that you wish that you had just stopped and listened and was present for those moments.

Well, the grandkids weren't interested in planting their own gardens so I planted them for them today. Radishes, carrots and red onions. Hopefully seeing things grow through the season will help them catch the gardening bug. LOL
Mine aren’t interested either. The oldest planted flowers but never did anything else so they didn’t even sprout. I second trying the starts so they can see what they planted.

This happened to me… they shrivel up. So, we then decided to harvest during the season- pick as many out of the ground as we needed for dinner here and there. Then after harvesting, I canned the rest. I followed the Ball canning directions, peeled, cubed, some salt, boiling water to fill the jars, then pressure canned. It’s great, drain them, use as needed. Already peeled and cooked.
Do you soak in cold water with citric acid first so they don’t look ugly in the jar? I didn’t and my daughter thought they went bad in the jar because they were a little discolored.
