I refilled the feeder with a 5 gallon bucket full of 2 parts 17% layer feed mixed with one part 27% game bird feed. I'll take care of the waterers tomorrow. I gave them a dozen small to medium tomatoes this morning that they ate right up.

They're going over and pecking it. Funny thing, the lower ranking Dominique hens are more interested in the cabbage than the Sussex!

It is more like what we did outside of the coop. The last three days we put up a 10x20 chicken run for Coop I. We have a few more things to do before we are finished. We could not help ourselves. We needed to see how our chickens like their new run. Here’s a view from the top. We used 1/2” hardware on the sides. We are going to hang a swing for them to jump on this week.

Last weekend I wanted to spend some time with Callia, but she spends 1-2 hours per day in her favorite bush, where she has a nest.

So I let her be, figuring that she must've been trying to lay an egg. I went back later and this is how I found her. All proud in the sunlight. What a queen.

As a friend of mine said, "she's the most hen-shaped hen I've ever seen".
