What happened? Lavender ameracaunas...

Pics
I get a lot concerned when I'm talking to breeders locally that say they combine their Lavender & BBS pens... I have passed on some chicks, as I don't want the lines "muddled". Right now, I've just got my 1st BBS Ameraucana chicks since 2020.

I found a breeder of Lavender, also "local" (2 hours one way) & it appears they've managed to "clean up" the shredder gene. Their breeding stock is beautiful & chicks have both muffs & beards @ hatch. I want some... but.

My 2nd order from Deer Run Farm (MD) should be at PO soon. Ordered 10. I have 9 from March shipment.

I'm still looking around. May be able to get some other lines this year, may wait till next year...

Here are chart pics for how Lavender works. The "split" birds (1 Lavender gene, 1 black gene), will all look black. You can not tell the splits from straight gene blacks.
