What happened? Lavender ameracaunas...

So now that we 've determined that I didn't end up with any lavender ameracaunas, but possibly two that carry a gene for it, but possibly their mother is a blue...
My two questions are,
Do these two dark chicks count as pb ameracaunas?
And since there is the possibility of a blue mix should I avoid breeding them?

There is no way to be sure since the breeder wasn't forth coming with what they actually had and what they're actually breeding.

Blue and lavender are best not mixed together, it muddles things up to much.

you can see that the feathers almost look “laced”. That is a blue bird trait.
Okay, this clarifies things. I have some Sapphire Gems, which are blue. They are a bit darker than my lavenders and each feather looks like it has been outlined in a darker color, almost charcoal. The lavs have no shading like that, so thank you.

My lavender English orp, and my blue splash marans/ blue sexlink cross, for a visual comparison

Unless you’re breeding for show (or to sell as pure lavender ameraucanas), there’s nothing wrong with breeding blues and lavenders. It can just be confusing, because it can be hard to tell apart blues, lavenders, and blue lavenders.

Also, if your chicks are black, they won’t have the blue gene at all, even if they came from blue parents.
